Quest Diagnostics
“Transforming lab testing into a smooth digital experience that connects people, data,
and care”
A personal project focused on improving how Quest Diagnostics communicates complex biotech services in a way that feels accessible and trustworthy.
Role(s)
Digital product design, UX/UI design
Description
Quest transforms diagnostic testing into a patient-centered health platform that connects individuals with timely results, personalized insights, and coordinated care pathways. By simplifying appointment scheduling, delivering actionable health analytics, and proactively identifying trends and risks, Quest enables patients and providers to make faster, more informed decisions that improve outcomes and preventive care.

ProblemHealthcare providers face inefficiency from slow, fragmented lab processes, while patients struggle to trust results that can feel unclear or poorly communicated. In addition, the current brand identity reinforces these issues, making the system feel unreliable instead of supportive.
Solution
Key Features
Impact
Patients often receive results without understanding what they mean or what to do next, while providers face fragmented data and communication gaps that slow down care coordination and timely interventions.
ResearchTo understand the full diagnostic journey, I conducted in-depth interviews with an anesthesiologist, lab researcher, and frequent patient, capturing critical insights from those who order tests, process them, and ultimately live with the results.
User Personas
Why? Patients often receive results without understanding what they mean or what to do next, while providers face overloads of information and communication gaps that slow down care coordination between teams.

ReflectionCreating one platform that serves both patients and providers required strategic prioritization. With limited time, I had to focus on key features that would deliver value to both user groups rather than trying to solve everything at once.
Through this experience, I learned how to balance competing user needs, prioritize features, and design systems that work for multiple target users.
In the future, I would conduct deeper research into provider workflows, test with larger user groups, and refine the feature set based on real-world usage patterns. Moving forward, I aim to continue designing complex solutions that improve experiences for all users.
